Leguminous plants are one of the most widespread and economically important groups in the plant kingdom. These plants are characterized by their distinctive morphological structures, ecological adaptability, and their role in improving soil fertility. Nitrogen-fixing nodule bacteria form in the root systems of leguminous plants, converting atmospheric nitrogen into a form accessible to plants. This property enhances their significance in both natural ecosystems and agroecosystems. In this study, the biological characteristics, distribution areas, and economic uses of leguminous plants were examined. In addition, their nutritional, ecological, and biological importance was analyzed based on scientific data. As a result, it was determined that these plants play an essential role in maintaining stable ecological balance in nature.
