Nutritional and agronomic importance of leguminous crops

This article examines the resource significance and distribution characteristics of genera belonging to the legume family in nature. In the flora of Kazakhstan, plants of this family are widely distributed and play an important role in maintaining ecosystem stability. The study analyzes the biological characteristics, natural resources, and economic uses of leguminous plants. In addition, the scientific contributions of Kazakhstani researchers to the study of these plants are reviewed. Legume genera are distinguished by their forage, food, and medicinal properties. The root nodule bacteria enrich the soil with nitrogen, thereby increasing the productivity of agricultural crops. Therefore, studying the resource potential of these plants is important for the rational use of natural resources.
